Marathon Red Clover
Marathon Red Clover

Marathon Red Clover is a strong 3-4 yr perennial red clover cultivar developed by The University of Wisconsin. Yields are most pronounced in the second and third hay/grazing years.
Marathon is resistant to bean yellow mosaic virus and northern anthracnose. Marathon is best adapted to the northern half of the United States.
Marathon is also used as a compliment in pasture blends and in wildlife food plots.
Red clovers are one of the fastest establishing legumes and can even be grown on more acidic soils.

Marathon Red Clover is pre-inoculated with an OMRI Listed inoculation for improved establishment and growth. Inoculation is recommended when planting legumes.
Coatings are beneficial for better seed coat protection and easier plantability.
*Details on Seed Coatings, Inoculations & the OMRI downloadable certificates on our Reference Page.

Establishment

Plant at 1/4″ depth. An ideal soil bed is moist, fertile and firm. A soil test is recommended for proper plant establishment and growth. Red clovers can be planted, broadcast or frost-seeded succesfully.

Management

Graze or cut for hay when the red clover is ¼ to ½ in bloom. A second cutting or successive grazing should occur when red clover is ¼ in bloom. Leave at least 2 to 3 inches of growth after each harvest. Care should be taken to eliminate or appreciably reduce bloating of livestock when grazing. Keep lime and fertilizers (phosphorus and potash) at the proper level.

OUR PROMISE

A money-back guarantee, also known as a satisfaction guarantee, is essentially a simple guarantee that, if a buyer is not satisfied with a product or service, a refund will be made.
The 18th century entrepreneur Josiah Wedgwood pioneered many of the marketing strategies used today, including the satisfaction-or-money-back guarantee on the entire range of his pottery products. He took advantage of his guarantee offer to send his products to rich clientele across Europe unsolicited. The money-back guarantee was also a major tool of early U.S. mail order sales pioneers in the United States such as Richard Sears and Powel Crosley Jr. to win the confidence of consumers.
